When I Grow Up......

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.                                                                                                                                  Jeremiah 29:11

It’s funny, when we’re little we want to be a doctor, lawyer, teacher, ballerina, dancer etc. As we grow up all of our dreams kind of fade away and we start doing something that we thought we would never do. When I was a little girl I loved playing basketball, and I would always say that one day, when I grow up, I would be play in the WNBA. I played throughout middle school and then finally lost my desire to play even though I was good at it. I still played basketball with my friends, just not on a team. WNBA wasn't one of my main things anymore. Then my desire changed to becoming an artist. I always had the sense of creativity, and that came from my family. Growing up is like being on a roller coaster, one min…

Battlefield Of The Mind + GIVEAWAY!

As a man thinks so is he.

Battlefield of the mind is a great book, written by Joyce Meyer. When I was a teen my mom bought my sister and I the teen battlefield of your mind. I read that book in two days, that’s how good it is. It teaches you how to speak positive over your mind. You learn how to control your thoughts. A lot of teens and people period, always think bad about themselves and allow their minds get the best of them. As a teen my mind was a battlefield every day. I came to learn to shut out negative thoughts and over power it with positivity. If you haven’t read it I encourage you to do so. It will make a difference in your life.                                                           _________________________

Guest Post: Lesson Two On Love

I'm so glad to have my mom as a guest blogger again. I pray that her message on love will be a blessing to you guys and make a difference in your life.                                                              ______________

Hi, my name is Ginny and I am going to be sharing lesson 2 on love.  Before I do, I want to tell you a little about myself.  I am a mother of three great children and grandmother of two wonderful young people.  One of my children is the young lady that started this site. Her name is Shanay and my oldest daughter.  She has such a heart to help others and loves to hear about the victories in your lives.  She also prays for you as well.
One of my favorite scriptures in the Bible is Romans 8:28…I am not going to type it out because I want you all to look it up!  My heart’s desire is to make a difference in the lives of others, especially women, young and older.

The last lesson was about the love of God, and today’s lesson is about loving ourselves.  The two c…

Success Starts with Your Thoughts

By: Joyce Meyer

We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.                                                                                 2 Corinthians 10:5

Nobody is successful in any venture just by wishing they would be. Successful people make a plan and talk to themselves about that plan constantly. You can think things on purpose, and if you make what you think about match what you actually want to do, your feelings may not like it, but they will go along. I slept great last night, and when I woke up at 5:00a.m., I didn't feel like getting up. It was so cozy under the fluffy cover, and I felt like staying right there. But I had a plan. I had decided how many hours I would write today, and in order to do that I had to get up. I thought, I am going to get up now, and I got up!
Do you make an effort to choose your thoughts, or do you just meditate on whatever falls into your head, even if…

I’m really glad to have Christie on My Unique Girlz. When I came across her post about teen dating I really wanted my readers to read this post. Christie agreed to guest post and share her article with you guys.                                                     ______________________

This blog post has been festering lately.  I have lots to say, but don't know how to say it.  Mainly, I want to say it with grace and conviction.  I worry that I won't do that properly, but I feel like this needs to be shared.

I don't support teen dating because I was a teen dater.
I wish it …

Celebrate Life

By: Joyce Meyer

The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I come that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).                                                                                                                John 10:10

It is possible to live our lives blandly going through the motions of working, accomplishing, doing, but to never truly enjoy life. This is true of unbelievers as well believers who have not learned to enjoy the life God has given them. Jesus gave us life so we can derive pleasure from being alive, not just so we can go through the motions until He comes back for us or takes us home.
We need to learn how to celebrate in God’s joy, to live life “to the full.” Enjoying life is a decision that is not based on enjoyable circumstances. It is an attitude of the heart, a decision to enjoy everything because everything-even little, seemingly insignificant things has a part in God’s overall “big pictu…

Guest post: Lesson one on Love

By Ginny
This months teaching is about love.  The first one we will be learning about is the most important of all.

Whitney Houston sang a song called “The Greatest Love”. She thought the greatest love was to love yourself.  Yes, that is a great love, which will be in one of the next lessons, but she was slightly mistaken.
The greatest love is the love God has for us.  John 3:16 says that “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
God’s love is so great that He wanted us to be His children! Without Jesus bridging the gap between us and God, that would never ever happen. So, without judging us, and while we were still in our sin, God sent His Son to save us. NOW, that is true love!! His love did not say, “well, let Me see how good they are; let Me see if they will obey Me; let Me wait until they deserve it”. No, His love is pure and unconditional.  He simply loves us without anything on our par…

Develop Your Gift

For God’s gifts and His call are irrevocable. [He never withdraws them when once they are given, and He does not change His mind about those to whom He gives His grace or to whom He sends His call.]
                                                                                             Romans 11:29

If we don’t develop our potential, it won’t get developed, because no one else can do it for us. Find out what you want to do and began to train yourself for it. If you know you can write great songs, develop your gift; arrange your life so you can write songs. If you know you can lead worship, then practice, learn music, sing with all your mind and heart, and believe. Begin leading worship, even if you start with only you and the cat or you and your children. If you know you have a talent for business, an ability to make money, then study, pray, go to school, and step out. Whatever your gift and calling, entrust it to the Lord and be relentless in your pursuit of reaching your full pot…

It Is a New Day

By: Joyce Meyer
Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that way may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-times help; coming just when we need it].       Hebrews 4:16

We see from this Scripture the attitude we should live with. Fearless! Confidence! Bold! We cannot ask fearfully and expect to receive. We come in that way because we know with assurance that God is faithful, He is good, and He wants to meet our needs. We don’t need to act as if God is a miser whose arm we must twist to convince Him to help us. He is waiting to hear your cry! Many of the wrong attitudes toward women over the centuries have either changed or they are in the process of being changed. We are sorry for the women who lived in the past and did not know the freedom we enjoy today. We still have a way to go, but as the saying goes, “We’ve come a …

New Year, New Beginning

I can’t believe 2013 is here already…. Time goes by really fast. Time is priceless and cannot be earned. What are you doing with your time? Are you making a difference, setting a good example with others and being who God called you to be? This is a time to start fresh… begin with day 01 and write new goals that will make a difference. This is a new year to start over and change things in our lives that need to be changed. This is a new beginning, time to stop bad habits and start good ones. Also be more polite to people even if some of them are rude. Saying please and thank you and even you’re welcome. Good manners make a huge difference in our lives and can take us a long way.  They can open doors that might otherwise be closed. Have more boundaries in your life, don’t allow people to walk all over you. Let your no be no and your yes be yes, but not in a rude way. So let’s start 2013 with a clean slate and be who we are supposed to be in Christ. I pray that you will meet your goals…
